Over the past year you probably have noticed the drastic increase in the number of reports of Northern Lights being visible from Colorado and the subsequent images that flood your social media accounts the next day. You may remember for a science class that Northern Lights have something to do with the Sun but what really causes these beautiful phenomena and why are we seeing them more often lately? JoinDr. Charles Kuehn from the University of Northern Colorado Department of Physics and Astronomy as he talks about why the Sun has been more active lately, what this means for our chances of seeing Northern Lights, and whether this poses any risks to our everyday lives. Weather permitting we will also have a solar telescope on hand to view the Sun and you might even get a chance to see some sunspots. Cool science, a chance to see the Sun in a way you never have before, trivia for prizes, and delicious beer, what else could you ask for?
Event is free to attend! All ages welcome.
